A 3-hour reflective and creative workshop for Black Educators
Black Teachers Speak: 50 Years On
Saturday 20 June 2026
2026 marks the 50th anniversary of Beryl Gilroy’s pioneering memoir, Black Teacher. First published in 1976, the book remains a powerful testimony of Black educators’ experiences within British education and a vital touchstone for conversations about race, pedagogy, resilience, and professional survival.
To honour this anniversary, we invite Black educators to take part in a 3‑hour participatory workshop that uses Black Teacher as a starting point for reflection, dialogue, and collective knowledge‑building across generations.
This workshop is open to:
- Black teachers (all phases and subjects)
- Black educators in leadership, mentoring, teacher education, or support roles
- Black trainee teachers and early‑career educators
- Black education researchers and community educators
You do not need prior knowledge of Black Teacher to participate—curiosity, reflection, and lived experience are more than enough.
Join us on Saturday 20 June 2026 from 10am until 1pm. Click on the button below to reserve your spot.
